Jimmy White Wins back to back at shasta speedway

Jimmy White, driving the Number 8 Belfiore owned by Ted Mitchell swept both main events Friday and Saturday night during the Speed Tour Supermodifieds Season Opener at Shasta Speedway in Anderson CA.
16 Open Competition Super Modifieds unloaded on Friday May 1 for the first of a two day season opener at Shasta Speedway in Anderson CA. The weekend started off blistering fast as four drivers broke the all time track record previously held by Troy Regier with Bobby Dalton letting the way setting a new Supermodified Track Record of 13.035 seconds continuing his run of setting fast time for every race since the start of the 2025 season. Jim Birges, Davey Hamilton Sr and Tim Skoglund all beat the previous track record as well setting up for a fast weekend. Jimmy White, Davey Hamilton SR and Tim Skoglund each won their heat races in anticipation of a very fast main event. The main event started with the top six running nose to tail, the four record breakers along with Jimmy White and Matt Martinez leading the field. After 5 laps, the excitement turned to despair as multiple yellow flags caused the teams to run nearly 40 laps under caution. When the field went green for the lsat time, the curfew began to become an issue and with Davey Hamilton leading over Jimmy White, Tim Skoglund, Jim Birges and Matt Martinez, Davey lost a left front wheel on the back stretch and contacted the wall ending his night and the race as the curfew came into effect. Jimmy White collected the win over Skoglund, Birges, Martinez and Brody Sim.
Saturday was scheduled to be a short program with only qualifying and a Main Event as the Speed Tour Supermodifieds shared the program with the Super Late Models and ARCA Stock Cars as part of the Bill Schmidt Memorial 173. Tim Skoglund led all qualifiers followed by Dalton, Birges, White and Darin Snider. No heat races were run due to the full schedule and the main event again saw the top of the field pull away quickly with Jimmy White moving to the front followed closely by Birges, Skoglund and Dalton. Dalton pulled off on lap 17 of 35 leaving the top three to run away from the field dealing with traffic for the majority of the race. Birges made a move when lapping the 52 of Rick Brophy on the inside while Jimmy White passed on the outside heading into turn 1. Birges was able to make it stick on the inside but White had enough speed and grip to maintain the lead on the outside. Birges tried everything he could but he could not pass White. With 4 laps to go Skoglund came to a stop and brought out the last yellow flag of the evening. Birges made one more attempt to get to the lead on the drop of the green but White was too strong and maintained a 2-3 car lead at the finish with Brophy , Sim and Skoglund rounding out the top 5.

Season Opener at Shasta Speedway Now a Two Day Show
With big thanks to Steve Schmidt and Shasta Speedway along with Ken Clapp and the West Coast Stock Car/Motorsports Hall of Fame, the Speed Tour Super Modified Opening weekend at Shasta Speedway is now a two day show!!!! The Supermodifieds will run a full program on Friday with hot laps, time trials, heat races and a 30 lap feature. On Saturday a full program is planned with the Speed Tour Supermodifieds joining the ARCA series and the Super Late Models. On Saturday the Supermodifieds will run hot laps, time trials and a 40 lap feature event. The track will be busy with two full days of racing and the Speed Tour Supermodifieds are happy to be included on this big racing weekend.

2026 Speed Tour Supermodified Race Procedures released

The Speed Tour Supermodifieds 2026 Race Procedures are released and available on the Speedtoursupermods.com website. Three changes have been made from 2025, all intended to maintain safety and consistency while keeping the series an open competition series for supermodifieds.
The first update clarifies the impact if a tire that was used in qualifying is damaged before the main event. If the damage occurred on track there will be no penalty for using a different tire for the main event. If the tire is damaged in the main event then you will be able to replace the tire and go to the back of the field but will not be put a lap down. If you change a tire that was stamped during qualifying that was not damaged you will go to the back of the field and will lose a lap.
The second update is for top wings. There will be no limitation on wing size or use of wing sliders or wing shocks as long as the front and top wings do not extend past the outside of the front and rear tires. This is for safety to avoid a wing cutting the tire of a competitors vehicle.
The third and final update deals with the body and panels of the car and driver safety for driver viewing and driver access in and out of the car.
1. The floor belly pan must not extend past the frame rails of the car and must be flat from side to side. Horizonal panels may not extend below the plane/belly pan of the car. The belly pan must not extend beyond the frame rails of the car other then a flat belly pan under the engine.
2. All belly pan shall be flat with the frame rails of the car.
3. Right side drivers panel may not extent past the roll cage in any direction and the opening of the panel must not be smaller then 190 Square inches for drivers vision
Speed Tour Supermodified Series Schedule Release

The Speed Tour Supermodifieds 2026 Schedule is now official. The dates are firm with one TBD. The season will see the Speed Tour Supermodifieds returning to Shasta Speedway, Meridian Speedway, the Wenatchee Valley Super Oval and Madera Speedway again in 2026. We will be coming to the Motorplex at the Mill after a one year absence and will be racing at Stateline Speedway for the first time. Stateline speedway last featured supermodifieds over 30 years ago!! We will culminate our season at Davey Hamilton Jrs Open Wheel Showdown in Las Vegas where we will sanction the race as an official Speed Tour Points race. The 4th season of the Speed Tour Supermodifieds will consist of 10 races total over 6 weekends, four of which will feature two points races, one on Friday and one on Saturday to maximize the number of races while keeping travel expenses down as much as possible. We are committed to slow and steady growth and with new teams and more cars being prepared, 2026 promises to be our best season to date.
