Birges Takes Over the Drivers Points and Owners Points Lead

After 7 Speed Tour Supermodified races in 2026, Jim Birges has passed Jimmy White for the drivers points lead. Prior to this past weekend, Jimmy White has been the points leader since the first race of the season. An unfortunate mechanical failure during qualifying at State Line Speedway put the Ted Mitchell owned number 8 out of the show. Thanks to Graham Scott, Jimmy was able to run the main event in the 52s at State Line. The following night was an example of the type of teams we have in the Speed Tour Supermodified Series when Jim Birges gave the seat of the 3G supermodified to Jimmy White so he could run the entire show at the Wenatchee Valley Super Oval. A true show of selflessness and sportsmanship as Birges was second to White for most of the year and gave White the ride to help him stay in the points race. Davey Hamilton continues to inch closer to the top 2, with Darin Snider staying with in striking distance as we move to the last two races of the season.
The Harvest Classic is up next with the season finale in Las Vegas at Davey Hamilton Jrs Open Wheel Showdown in November.
On the owners points side, Birges in the 32 also leads the pack with Warren Budell's number 98H in second as White fell from first to third as he lost ground when he had to park the Mitchell number 8 for the weekend. Lauren Snider's 2K is close behind in 4th with two races remaining.
Frankie Volz Jr gains redemption at the Wenatchee Valley

Frankie Volz Jr led wire to wire on Saturday night at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval a little over a year removed from his accident at the same speedway. This was the second race of the Northwest Shootout for the Speed Tour Supermodifieds and the second race in a row for supermodifieds at Wenatchee Valley after an absence of over 20 years.
7 Open Competition Supermodifieds came through the pit gate at the fast ¼ mile banked track in Wenatchee Valley Washington. The race saw the return to the speedway of the 98jr driven by Frankie Volz Jr who was running his first supermodified race since his accident at this very track just over a year ago.
Davey Hamilton Jr again set the West Side Machine and Racing Engines fast time with a lap of 10.910 eclipsing the Speed Tour Track Record of 11.06 set by Bobby Dalton one year ago. Jim Birges was second fast followed by Darin Snider.
Jimmy White won the BR Motorsports heat race followed by Frankie Volz Jr and Darin Snider.
The main event was set for 30 laps and like Davey Hamilton Sr the night before, Frankie Volz Jr took the lead on lap one and never looked back. Darin Snider moved into second place early in the race and chased Frankie for the remainder of the but Frankie was not to be denied. Another great battle occurred behind the leader, this time for second place with Darin Snider, Jim Birges and Davey Hamilton Sr. Just like the night before, three supermodifieds ran nose to tail for the majority of the 30-lap main event that again ran green white checkered. Snider held off the two veterans and emerged from the battle in second place with Jim Birges holding on to take the last podium finish followed by Davey Hamilton Sr, Jimmy White and TJ Sneva.

The story of the night belonged to Frankie Volz Jr. He suffered a major back injury the last time the Speed Tour Supermodifieds raced at Wenatchee Valley and spent the winter recuperating and rebuilding his beautiful 98jr Silsby. In an amazing story of redemption Frankie not only returned to the scene of the accident but won the race in dominating fashion. Always a fan favorite the crowd showed their approval with a standing ovation after the race.
In another amazing story, this one about true sportsmanship, with points contender Jimmy without a car due to the damage suffered the night before at Mode Stadium State Line Speedway, Jim Birges, his closest points rival gave Jimmy the seat to the 3G super allowing Jimmy to run the show at Wenatchee allowing him to gain critical points as the series moves to the final 2 races of the season at Madera Speedway and the Bullring at Las Vegas Speedway as the Speed Tour Supermodifieds participate in Davey Hamilton Jrs Open Wheel Showdown.
Hamilton Triumphs in the Supermodified Return to Stateline

Davey Hamilton Sr, aboard the Number 98H Supermodified owned by Warren Budell led wire to wire on Friday night at Mode Stadium State Line Speedway. This was the first race of the Northwest Shootout for the Speed Tour Supermodifieds in the first race of supermodifieds at State Line Speedway in over 30 years.
9 Open Competition Supermodifieds came through the pit gate at the fast ¼ mile banked track in Post Falls Idaho. The race saw the return of the 98jr driven by Frankie Volz Jr who was running his first supermodified race since his accident at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval just over a year prior. It also saw the debut of the independent front suspension Hyder 2A driven by Randy Anderson. The weekend was off to a rough start as a number of cars who had planned to run had issues and could not make the tow. During practice Randy Anderson suffered a mechanical failure and damaged his beautiful new car. The damage kept Randy from competing the rest of the weekend but Randy is ok and the car will be back on the track soon.
Davey Hamilton Jr set the West Side Machine and Racing Engines fast time with a lap of 11.563 to pace the field letting everyone know he was going to be pushing hard for his first win of the season. TJ Sneva was second fast followed by Frankie Volz Jr. Unfortunately, points leader Jimmy White had a mechanical failure during qualifying damaging his driveline and rear end and the number 8 was done for the night.
Darin Snider won his second BR Motorsports Heat Race in a row followed by Graham Scott and Davey Hamilton Sr.

Points leader Jimmy White moved into the 52s owned by Graham Scott for the main event and finished 6th to gain critical drivers points and Casey Cavender in his first Supermodified race finished 7th.

Jim Birges Breaks through to win at Meridian speedway

Jim Birges, driving his Number 32 XCar led wire to wire on Saturday night during the Speed Tour Supermodifieds Idaho Supermodified Shootout breaking JImmy White's 4 race season long win streak.
11 Open Competition Supermodifieds unloaded on Saturday August 1st for the Idaho Supermodified Shootout. The night started off with Davey Hamilton Sr again setting the pace with a lap of 11.529 seconds, his third West Side Machine and Racing Engines fast time in a row. The top 6 cars all qualified within .1 seconds of Davey's time on a very hot evening at Meridian Speedway. Darin Snider won the BR Motorsports First Heat and Jim Birges won the King Racing Products Second Heat in anticipation of a very closely contested main event. With an invert of 6, the top 6 qualifiers drew for their starting position. Davey Hamilton drew first as fast qualifier and drew a 5 for the second race in a row. Bobby Dalton drew a 3, Jimmy White followed with a 2, Darin Snider a four, Jim Birges drew lucky number 1 and Brian Otts drew a 6. Birges and White both had a great start with BIrges taking the lead on lap one. The top seven cars ran nose to tail. After an early caution on lap 8 the rest of the 30 lap main event ran green with no yellow flags. Birges maintained the lead over White on the restart and led wire to wire. Davey Hamilton SR put on a passing clinic moving up from fifth place passing Dalton, Snider and finally White on the white flag lap to finish second, with Jimmy White third, Darin Snider fourth and Brian Otts fifth. TJ Sneva, Joe Daily in his first supermodified race, Mike Anderson, Bobby Dalton and Art McCarthy completed the top 10. Jim Birges had the fastest lap of the race on lap 11 and Davey Hamilton was the fastest car at the end of the race clocking his fastest time on lap 24.

Jim Birges inched closer to the overall points lead with Jimmy White maintaining his lead with 323 points to 306 for Birges. Davey Hamilton is third with 256 points and Darin Snider is 4th with 212 points as we head to Stateline Speedway and Wenatchee Valley on August 21st and 22nd for the Speed Tour Supermodifieds Northwest Swing.

Jimmy White, driving the Number 8 Belfiore owned by Ted Mitchell swept both main events Friday and Saturday night during the Speed Tour Supermodifieds JP Memorial Weekend stretching his season long win streak to 4.
20 Open Competition Super Modifieds unloaded on Friday June 17 for the first of a two day season opener at Meridian Speedway in Meridian ID honoring the Naylor family in the Naylor Memorial. The weekend started off blistering fast with Davey Hamilton Sr setting the pace with a lap of 11.049 seconds. Davey broke the fast time streak of Bobby Dalton stretching back to the start of the 2025 season. Brian Otts, Ricky Otts and Davey Hamilton SR each won their heat races in anticipation of a very fast main event. With an invert of 6 at the start of the main event the top six ran nose to tail with JImmy White taking advantage of his pole position to take the early lead over Jim Birges and Davey Hamilton Sr. After an early caution on lap 4 the rest of the 25 lap main event ran green with no yellow flags. Jimmy White maintained the lead over Jim Birges on the restart and led wire to wire, with Birges finishing second, Davey Hamilton Sr third, Natalie Waters in her first Supermodified race was fourth and Richard Castor Jr was fifth. Matt Martinez, Ricky Otts, Matt Elliott, Cody Castor and Darin Snider completed the top 10.
Saturday was the JP Memorial $5000 to win 40 lap main event, a major race of the year for the Speed Tour Supermodifieds. 17 supermodifieds timed in with Davey Hamilton Sr again led all qualifiers with a lap of 11.174. Cody Castor was second and Nate Little in the Orange number 1 recently purchased from Davey Hamilton Sr was third. Showing the increased strength and depth of the series, 13 of the 17 cars qualified within 1 second of fast time. Nate Little, Darin Snider and Matt Martinez were the heat race winners. The main event again saw a 6 car invert with Jimmy White once again starting on the pole with Cody Castor on the outside. White jumped in front at the start with Natalie Waters and Davey Hamilton Sr moving into the second and third positions. A caution on lap 5 brought the field back together where once again the field ran green to the checkered flag. Jimmy White again led wire to wire with Natalie Waters close but not close enough to mount a challenge before a vibration caused her to leave the race on lap 33. Davey Hamilton Sr assumed the second position followed by JIm Birges and that is how they finished with Biran Otts and Darin Snider finishing 4th and 5th. The rest of the top 10 were Matt Elliott, Shane Vanderpool, Richard Castor Jr, Natalie Waters and Matt Martinez.
